June 29th, Caught up withe USBA guys headed to Jackson Hole

I spaced this ride off completely. This morning I was sitting around wondering if I should go for a ride. The weekend was busy as usual and I hadn't gotten out yet. I remembered the group was going up to Jackson Hole today and called Greg to See where they were. They were still at the meeting place getting ready to leave. I hurried out but I was still about 15mins late getting there, they had already left. In any large group there's bound to be more stops, so I headed out up Monte to try and catch up.

My plan went well till I got stuck behind a Sherriff's deputy on Monte. I snapped some pics and enjoyed the ride.

I still love this shot, like i've said before you'll be seeing more of it. I'm going to try to get an angle without the camera in it. We'll see.

Some Guys I saw along the way.

This is the west side of Monte Cristo, before the gate, pretty, but the road is in bad shape, real bumpy. After the gate the views and the road get even better, I didn't get any shots though as I was trying to catch up.And caught up I did, according to Greg, they'd pulled in right before me, not bad I guess for being 15 mins behind.

Bear lake was looking pretty inviting, it was hot today, shoulda worn the mesh jacket.Once again, wish i'd of gotten more lake in the shot.

This is one of my favorite rides, I gotta get Kevin up here for it.

Some shots from "The Loop"

Randy and I got out for a ride on "The Loop" the loop consists of riding up Weber canyon ( not as much fun with all the construction) taking the Mt. Green Exit and Riding up Trappers loop, taking snowbasin road up to the flags at snowbasin and then back down (or riding Old snow basin road) around Pineview, maybe up to the gate at Monte Cristo then back on Trappers and down Weber Canyon. It's close, gives a good route for a quick ride. We met Ray and some friends at The Sinclair at Trappers and they rode up to Snow Basin with us. Then it was just me and Randy down Old Snow basin rd and aup to Monte and back. It was a nice ride, but for the first time ever, I twisted the throttle and didn't have enough.

Here's some photos.

It sure was buggy on the way back

This was my favorite shot of the day, and below in black and white.

Fathers Day

On Saturday night I decied to try and organize a ride for father's day morning. It turned out to be me and Joey Clark. We met up at Jessie Jeans in Roy for a cup and breakfast and then we were off for East Canyon.
Joey almost ate it on the decreasing radius turn near the resivior, but held his line and made it. I told him I'd wait for him and that he shouldn't try to keep up, his riding skill is far above the capabilities of his bike. After that he agreed.
It was a beautiful day, but still quite crowded, meeting at 8:00 Am wasn't early enough. We saw mostly Harleys, some sportbikes, a lot of Cyclists and one Cop. Wasn't me though, i've yet to be stopped on my bike, it was Joey..... trying to catch up. I've got a rule I follow, fast in the turns slow in the straights, it's worked for me for 2 years so far.
Joey ended up getting a warning. Although I had been speeding about a mile earlier, at the time I passed the Cop, I was riding 10 under the limit waiting for Joey. We took trappers and ogden canyon and headed home where I watched the WSBK races on TV and took a nap before eating some good BBQ at Dads. Joey on his Hardley AblesonI like this angle, you're gonna see a lot more of these shots in the future.East Canyon at the Summit, a Camera just can't do the view justice.

We saw alot of this all day, share the road eh?

World Superbike At Miller

The World Superbike series has been the most exciting series out there for the last couple of years, although Moto Gp is starting to good again, Rossi and Lorenzo have been fun to watch. But despite the premiere class' recent excitment, Bayliss and the others have kept it exciting. It was fun to watch the race in person.

I started the weekend on Friday by meeting Manny and Lex in SLC. I met Manny like a lot of my other biker buddies, online. Manny and Lex both have Speed Triples also, although Manny recently bought a Triumph Sprint ST. Much like the S3, but more comfortable, a touring bike. I can't blame Manny for riding it out instead of the Triple. Randy and I rode down and met them at Squatters, Manny sells friggin lazers for a living and Randy and I are cops, cops really don't have to be on time for anything, Manny is a very punctual person. Randy and I were a bit late getting there and Manny sure let us know.
After lunch, Randy and I took Manny and Lex up to the summit of East Canyon then up to Park City to see some of the sights.
East Canyon

Manny is a bit of a sports nut so he wanted to see the Bee's. We went to the game and had a good time up to the 9th inning. The people sitting next to us got a bit too drunk and picked a fight with Lex the franch guy. They ended up leaving.

Manny "foot long" eating a big ol hot dog.

Randy and his dog.

We called it a night after that, Randy and I headed home and LEx and Manny back to their hotel room.

For saturday I planned a longer ride. Wolf Creek Pass. It had been open about a month or so, but there was still a ton of snow at the summit. The road itself was nice and clean though. Again I was late meeting up with Manny and Lex, I got to the hotel where they were waiting and took them to the meeting place to meet Kevin. We met at Coffe Break on 4th south. Kevin was there and waiting patiently. We got some coffee and headed out up immigration canyon. Kevin of course broke out the wheelies and stoppies. From there it was up Parleys till the summit when I leaned over to open the vents on my boots and accidentally turned up the volume on my i-pod. Ouch.

Kevin then did this nice wheelie I was able to capture on video. I need to remember to get real close when i do video.

On the way to Wolf Creek Pass I caught a couple of pics of the guys riding.

Then after rolling through Francis, we made it to UT-35, Wolf Creek Pass. We headed out and rode into Hanna wherewe got a burger and fries. It turned out to be a good thing we were late, there was a Harley ride that left about an hour before we got there and there were still quite a few stragglers. Apparently, Ausitn got a hold of our camera and touched the lens. Anything he touches is covered in some type of sugary, slobbery subtance, so the lens was a little foggy looking for most of these pictures.

At lunch I realized that Austin had been handling the camera and got the lense cleand.

Obviously Manny and Lex arn't quite as good of friends as Kevin and I.

And that was pretty much it for the day. I went home and Manny and Lex went to Typhoon for dinner where they claim to have seen Troy Bayliss.

On sunday I met Manny and Lex at their hotel again, on time for once. We got some breakfast at Einsteins and headed out to MMP. The place was full of vendors, we took the opportunity to look at a few things there. Here again is the ugliest bike i've ever seen.

Ashley made it for the final race and brought Skyla and the kids.

Carlos Checha doing a celabratory burnout, Carlos won both races, his first wins in a long time.

Valentino Rossi's YZR-M1. The coolest thing I saw all weekend. Even cooler than the Ducati girls.

And that was it a fun weekend all in all. It was the same week that I got home from California so it was a busy week on top of working and trying to catch up with my part time job. I finally got this posted up though.
